gonna party like its 2-oh-oh-7

ok. so last night steveO and i had a big night out on the town. we were actually invited to a party! a real adult party where you go up to a bar and order drinks. and there was a band! not a good band, but they had amps and speakers and music! so of course, we got to the restaurant early and had a small dinner and adult beverage. to prime the pump as they say. then we went back into the back room where the party was. i didn't even know that cafe asia had a backroom, but there it was! we were on time and so were about 30 others. so there was time to look around and see the place. now i do remember the evite said 238 YESes. but i didn't really imagine what over 200 adults in a room was like. it was a "worlds colliding" party, im not sure if that is a trademarked event but basically it was the 6th year that a group of friends get together and have a huge party at a bar and they invite all their friends. i mean ALL, like opening up your address book and unloading the hugest evite list ever. i still claim that shannon and i had a way better zodiac/party of the century events back at alma ave, but these people needed 6 hosts to get to the big #s. there was no gimmic, no announcements, no reasons to mingle. so that kinda sucked. i told 2 of the hosts to go up and introduce themselves and have a cheer-meter to see how many people were there for them, but too shy. anyway, there were no nametags. i love parties with nametags. hello my sign is CANCER. anyway, i just stood and watched. did i mention i was in party heels? yeah, so back to me STANDING in a room of over 200 adults. ow. yeah, some girl was like "yeah i wore tennis sneakers, no need to be in pain."(and they were white and i detest white sneakers for casual wear- tennis is a different story) but i gotta tell you she looked dumb. ha. so my pain was worth it. i met a guy who went to UMASS! and i only saw one guy i knew, but the room was so crowded and the music was so loud that i didn't leave my position to say hi. i wasn't mingling - i was people watching! and at one point i looked around and realized that everyone here was OLD. like my age and older, old. which is a strange thing to realize:: age. i mean in my 20s being in crowded bars where you cant move was fine and normal, and everyone was young. but being pushed from behind so that someone can get by you, just isnt fun when you are over 25 + anniversaries. then i felt *really* old, for realizing that i couldn't remember the last time we were invited to a party that didnt involve family or someone's birthday. and that's just sad, b/c now that we have babysitting options, i want out. and since i'm sharing. the caption for this stevenjr image is "is this another one of those books where the mommy gets shot by hunters?" this will be followed with my series on "why hunting is bad". part of my homePREschooling curriculum. drink specials: wine:$4, beer: $2. budlight: full price. hours til first indoor soccer game in 6 weeks: 5, hours it would be if it weren't for that pesky VP of daylight savings time: 6.
