sockHER
ok. so i feel like i have been neglecting my true passion lately, so this will be one chock full of info. in case anyone out there doubts what watching nearly EVERY world cup game can do for you, look no further. last night, i scored a left post goal that will possibly be listed as my best ever. yep. a thigh high pass from the left wing to me and i cranked a half volley into the net- through the goal keepers hands and through her legs. it was what they call a finish. yeah, me. i finished it! the commentary running through my head was clearly, when peekay is in front of the net, she does her job as a forward and finishes. hey, it's my commentary, get out of here. no laughing. anyway, im probably going to be in pain for the rest of the week, b/c last night it was 95 degrees as i drove to my game. breathing was an issue. some of the other soccer fields filled with a variety of international men's pickup games had spectators who were smoking. yeah, with an already horrible air quality we had to breath in smoke.

not sure if i mentioned it yet, but jenny maurer fellow high school(go spartans) alum,(much younger and currently living my dream) was called up to the US under21 women's soccer team for the Nordic Cup in Denmark this week. She didn't actually play in the first two games, which really is annoying, but hey all she needs is a chance!

The US WNT played saturday and beat sweden 3-2, in the final seconds of the game thanks to Lilly. I know I said, Lilly should have retired with the rest of the old ladies, and I still think it. The team is a whole different breed now. young and fresh and basically in need of some new leadership. personally i think lilly was sick of living in Mia's shadow and decided to have a swan song of her own. whatever. yawn. very surprised to learn she is marrying a male, Brookline firefighter though.

And I will end with my thoughts on the soon, but not soon enough departure of bruce arena. could his voice be more annoying? no, it couldn't. could his allegiance to UVA be any stronger? no it couldn't. so there you have it.let the metro-donkeys have their shite-slinger. i look foward to 2010, bruce-less but taylor-full! tomatoes harmed in tonight's homemade salsa: 6, habanero peppers mistakenly purchased for salsa: 1, hot factor(out of five): 5.
