mommy-posh spice for a day
uk. yeah it's a change up from ok. i went to my neighbor's moms N tots playgroup today. a bunch of moms from the british embassy get together for fun. we were the first to arrive and i had steven over-dressed. when will i get this right. then i don't have sunscreen on him and i didn't bring a hat. UM, bad start. so it was steven's first day set free in grass. and he did awesome. he only twice tried to eat mulch. good! Because the sun rises and sets for Steven jr, i try VERY hard not to be that totally ego-maniacal-dotting-mother so i find myself annoucing his shortcomings. He doesn't walk, i proclaimed to the first mom to arrive. He puts everything in his mouth, i explained to the second mommy as i grabbed the mulch out of his hand. rosie didn't walk til after she was 1, and her mother said it was a god thing. then claire arrived, and he was smitten. he crawled up to her little red head, laughed really loudly and smiled his toothy grin in her face. then grabbed her shoulder and went for the nose. woops. maybe i am trying a little too hard to get him to find my nose. claire's mom told us that claire(now 11 months) had a heartattack when she was born and they can't detect it for 3 weeks, and then she had open heart surgery. ON A NEWBORN. I think my brain shutdown and I just stared, thinking what that would have been like. meanwhile, the other moms are saying these wonderful, supportive things, im still staring at claire like OH MY GOD. it was time for steven's nap, so we left the brits to their thing. one thing i learned. they call ladybugs, ladybirds. do you think the pilgrims made that transition for us? in soccer news, the US lost to Morocco (1-0) in the 1st friendly game of 3 before world cup play. I missed the game b/c i thought it was TONIGHT. ARG! WTF?! this clearly makes me nervous. i am nervous. i can not handle an embarrasssing run in germany. bruce better get these guys going and i dont want to hear any over-trained BS excuses! steven had his one year appointment with his very pregnant doctor. weight in LBS: 23, height (in): 30, days til vacation: 2, baby gates to buy: 5, times i tried to put steven to bed last night: 4, hour he came to sleep in our bed: 5, tooth trying to pop out: 6th.
