breakin the law, breakin the law
ok. i pulled my quad tonight. my left one. and we leave for vacation in 8 hours. yes, it is 2am and im blogging. now i have to suffer in silence with this old injury which is entirely against my nature. but you see my dear husband pleaded with me to wait until AFTER vacation to return to soccer. he was in his all-knowing way, predicting that after basically no activity for 9 months, it was a bad idea to jump back into soccer. but i am dumb and always will be when it comes to soccer. and now i have no one to complain to except the 7 documented readers of this here bloggy. in my defense, i left for the game 30 minutes early. which means i would have 15 whole minutes to stretch. but mr arlington cop decided to lurk in a parking lot, so when i decided to take a right turn off 50 onto Glebe, he decided to PULL ME OVER. oops. there was a NO TURN ON RED sign. I saw it, and i inched forward, and then i noticed mr SUV breathing down my neck and well I felt PEER PRESSURE, from a CAR for god's sake. So I took my freaking right turn. I was innnocent and this gas guzzling SUV driving butthead pushed me. damn, the lights startled me. I pulled over as i should. I lowered my window, shut the car off and put both hands on the wheel. I like to offer the cop no reason to be afraid. I mean thats a real challenge considering I'm driving a station wagon with an infant carseat in the back, and im decked out in soccer jersey #23(beckham too), and ponytailed. he asks for the old license and registration and while i apologize, he tells me that i disobeyed a highway sign. so i give him my license and look for my registration and tell him, "oh we have bigger problems." b/c i dont have any registration! he says, i will assume that you have it and walks away. mind you, time is ticking and i have soccer to get to! well he returns with a $86 ticket. $30 for the fine, $51 for a processing fee and $5 for some Arlington fee. WTF? my crime is cheaper than the fees? this sounds like a 9/11 surcharge on the airlines. he does tell me that he is ignoring the registration issue. so after all this i am really mad b/c i missed kickoff and now i am the sub. we tied 1-1 and i pulled my left quad in the second half. for the record, i did ask to sub the entire second half and no one would let me. no matter that i couldn't sprint and i was marking FLO JO. ah to be young again. score: 1-1.
