shots - make mine a mind eraser
ok. in college, shots were always a fun way to make a night turn messy. very messy. shots always led to the loss of something. clothes, wallet, money, pride, you name it. If shots were ordered, someone in the group lost something. Nowadays, shots have a NEW meaning. pain and crying. right before baby and i embarked on our MnM 2005 tour (Massachusetts&Maine) it was 2 month shots time. I knew it was going to be bad. so bad that SteveO opted out of it, citing he just couldn't handle hearing baby cry. so i was left to the task myself. the nurse was ALL business. she explained the process quickly, while she prepared the shots but i wanted to chat more and deep breathe for a while. next thing I know she is telling ME to hold the baby's leg down as she pops in the needle and baby HOWLS. it was nothing short of horrible. And it's not over yet, as she administers FOUR shots in total. evil evil. The cry was nothing I had heard before and it was so sad. The worst part was that she had me involved. that was such a bad idea. imagine taking a POW's family into the torture room and having them hold their loved one's eyes open while they stick a hot poker in it. TO add insult to injury, she puts bandaids on each wound. some yellow duck print laughing at me - not even big bird. Thankfully, Mary told me to be ready to breastfeed ASAP and i popped him on - although he did calm down quickly, i had to listed to a few muffled sobs. I bet a lot of parents out there would pay to have someone be there. That's why nannys are so popular. the baby got a dose of tylenol before the shots, maybe at 6 months the doc will give me some valium. shots in each thigh:2. months until next torture session: 4.
