maybe just a tad like stepford
maybe just a tad like stepford...
ok. we were invited to our neighbor's party saturday night so we went, although I almost chickened out. It was so much fun, despite being very unsure of how much fun it would be when we wouldn't know anyone. but we ended up meeting a WHOLE bunch of neighbors. Very nice neighbors. Including the guy who snowblows EVERYONE's walkway/driveway, the couple that host a RedSkins party every Sunday, and the couple that have a new grandson born in December. Two couples have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Oh yeah, I also saved Richard(see Redskins party host above) from setting himself on fire. bad knees, so he was leaning his arm on the buffet where 3 oil candles had quite the flame kicking. I was tempted to tell him to watch his arm but decided I was being a wacko. 2 minutes later, I see black smoke appearing above his head. I grabbed his elbow and patted the fire out. oops! I saved the day but I coulda prevented a black burn on his sweater. And he is a retired policeman from 2 different forces. It also appears that we are the youngest in the hood. But that's ok. They served bottles of newcastle and believe me I was wishing I could have some! yum. The chocolate fudge muffin was delish. We stayed a bit past 10pm, which was supposed to be the end of the party. I hope we didn't become THOSE neighbors that never leave. I shoulda pocketed some more muffins for the 50 yard walk home. hours spent standing in painful shoes: 3.
