tag sale
tag sale
ok. SteveOs parental units and Sharondarella had a tag sale yesterday, although truth be told, these Virginians call it a YARD sale. I couldn't resist and asked SteveO if he was selling yards. It was a 9 family tag sale so I could use the plural. He didn't bite, in fact he thinks tag sale is a dumb term. He couldn't understand a Yankee if he tried ;). Anyhow, I had boxed up a bunch of items from my previous life. Here's my take: $1.50 for these blue martini glasses that either Mindee gave to me before she moved or I bought them from her. I remember her telling me that no one at her tag sale bought them. And so I don't feel ashamed that at my tag sale, this pair of martini glasses sold b/c a. i would give mindee the $1.50 in an instant. b. hell, I'd buy her a whole martini to enjoy. c. she couldnt sell them at her tag sale precisely for the reason of her tag sale was called a YARD sale. Well, truly, I marked them $1.50 for both. that is what I call a tag sale. to me, a sale is only a sale when i can't usually buy something for that price. aka. the tag has a sale price that i can not walk away from. I almost bought them back for myself until i remembered that we have 8 brand spanking new crate and barrel MOXIE martini glasses.
so, in other tag sale news, I sold a 20 piece Lands End (green patchwork)dinner set minus one saucer for $3. Once again, providing a SALE and it could not be refused. It was a 24th Birthday present from my old roommates Kim and Dawson. Back when I lived in Cambridge. They were body builders and ate the most insanely protein packed food. Dawson was a PHd Computer Science student at MIT and I worked with Kim. They were cool, I regret that I lost touch with them and have no clue where they are these days. I also sold 3 clear martini glasses with wavy stems. It was orginally a set of 4, but one toppled out of the freezer in my Georgetown apartment so It was sold as a trio. That was also a birthday present(29th) from someone I used to work with whom I no longer speak with, which I'm fine with.(is it me or do I sense a pattern?)
While the tag sale was in session, I was seated in front of the TV watching the US women struggle to beat Brazil in a 2-0 victory. Mia Scored, but Abby got a yellow card and has to sit out Saturday's game against Australia. I must say that these are not the kinds of things I like to see in the path to the GOLD podium. but im not going to get all negative on you.
peekay tag sale profits: $7.50, goals mia has in the olympics: 2.
