wrong way or another
wrong way or another
ok. spent last night with my friend soozan and her 3 cutie pie boys, all under the age of 6. very fun and it certainly had been way too long since i made the drive back into NW Dc. It has been 15 months since I moved out of DC and I have only been back a handful of times. It seems strange, but when i have a big screen tv calling your name home, i follow the remote.
i read 3 books to them, ending with Curious George gets a bike. I played the opposite game to test them in case they weren't paying attention. so it was Curious George and the Woman with the green hat. they freaked out, it was funny. but it got me to thinking. what is up with the man in the yellow hat. why would he take a monkey out of the jungle. FREE GEORGE! also, where are the women in the story. not a single one noted. although there was a circus scene which included the back of a woman's head, unless it was a man. keep the hat, lose the monkey.
so i left early enough last night to jump on the HOV lanes up the Rock Creek Parkway. oooh. goosebumps. i love the rock creek parkway so much. BUT and there is a BUT, I have never become very comfortable with driving on the wrong side of the road with the yellow double lines on my right. see, DC has these insane traffic patterns to ease the mass exodus of Govt workers out of THE DISTRICT. so a road which normally travels with 2 lanes in each direction, during certain peak traffic times becomes ALL ONE WAY. which means, if you are me, and you are driving my blue car at 5:45pm on a Tuesday evening over the Potomac and into DC, then you are presented with driving in a lane which you normally would never travel in. and for some reason, i was the lead car. which means, im weaving around corners and praying to god that no car is going to come at me. eeek. it was a bit frightening and then i realized that it had been way too long since i was on the Parkway. must make resolution to go visit more often. hours spent in the district: 5, hours spent reading new book on fertility: 1.5
