go NATS! (the g is silent)
ok. went to Nationals baseball game yesterday afternoon. it was a bit chilly! too chilly in fact to eat the Dippin' DOTS that I love so much. poo. the wonderful thing about these season tix is that we are under an overhang and we are still SO CLOSE. so it rained on and off all game and we were spared from any wetness! yay. it was a good game until the last inning where the Atlanta braves decided to win the game 2-1. bummer. DC is a strange sports town. I can't wait for the novelty of the new baseball team to wear off. There was a distinct murmur throughout the crowd and it wasn't about baseball stats. no it was the DC politicos, chatting with their good ole boys whom they bought season tix with. The talks covered stocks, congress and who was on vacation at Hilton Head playing golf. It was ridiculous! I wanted to yell "HELLO PEOPLE, there is a game being played!!" I never hear that shite at Fenway or Camden Yards. soon they will figure it out. but I might have to wait for a new president first.
sad day for nomar: article from Illinois paper "Nomar's injury capped a hellish day that began with him being dropped to sixth in the batting order. In the first inning, Jeff Suppan struck him out. In the second, Garciaparra committed a throwing error after fielding a routine grounder. And in the third, while bouncing into an inning-ending, rally-killing double play, he stumbled out of the batter's box and crumbled to the ground. [...]
The only way the night could have gone worse for Poor Nomar would have been if one of the old Budweiser Clydesdales had come out of retirement and trampled him as he lay there two strides from home plate."
That last line almost made me spit the water out of my mouth! by the wya, im boxing up my nomar red sox bobblehead and bringing him home tonight. the love affair is over. sorry Nomie.
